Earthquake Update
I was not affected by the earthquake.
My Christchurch business did not get damaged, in fact, at the time of the quake I was in the North Island. Now back in Christchurch busy helping with the massive rebuilding efforts.
What has stood out in emergency response the major role played by technology. Cellphones were used to contact those trapped; computers to manager the thousands of people and hundreds of pieces of equipment required.
The damage was very widespread because Christchurch took a direct hit.
The one things where technology has not come the rescue is the ability to predict the time and place of the next earthquake. Perhaps that will soon we possible! The earthquake maps have now plotted over 5000 quakes since 4 September, measuring intensity, depth and location.
We know very little about the land beneath us, evidence the shock of people at seeing sand bubble up accumulating to depths sufficient to trap vehicles.
Not a lot to report on the services we are providing, we are endeavouring to be flexible to meet the needs of our clients in a rapidly changing market.
We expect that the services required will be very different in the Waikato than those required in Canterbury – we are open to meeting challenging assignments – give us a ring and see what we can do for you to help you compete in a rapidly changing market.
Remember we help you communicate, and without communication there is no business growth!
